My Journey: From Dancer to Dietitian


Why I Became a Dance Nutrition Expert

I grew up dancing at ALDC (yes, that ALDC), where nutrition was never discussed. Hunger was a badge of honor, and exhaustion was just part of the process. I learned to ignore my body’s signals, believing that feeling depleted was just part of being a dedicated dancer.

When I majored in Musical Theatre in college, I carried these habits with me–training, rehearsing, and auditioning while running on fumes. Everything changed when I landed a contract on a cruise ship. Weekly weigh-ins determined our job security. My body was no longer my own. Every meal was a test, every bite a calculation. I became obsessed with food, terrified of eating too much, and ended up not eating enough and my performances paid the price.

After years of low energy, disordered eating patterns, and feeling disconnected from my body, I finally got help. Seeing a Registered Dietitian was a turning point. Instead of restrictions and rules, she gave me small, practical steps that actually worked. For the first time in my career, I felt strong, fueled, and in control.

When the pandemic hit, I knew I wanted to give dancers the knowledge I had been missing for so long. I went to grad school (NYU!), completed 1,200 supervised practice hours, passed my board exam, and became a Registered Dietitian specializing in dance nutrition—all while performing, teaching, choreographing, and raising a baby.

Now, my mission is to help dancers break free from the confusion, misinformation, and harmful mindsets around food, fueling, and dance–so they never have to feel as lost as I once did.
